Oh, Just Something I Whipped Up!

I didn't really know what to do for dinner tonight. Greg wasn't feeling well and I really need to do some grocery shopping. He decided he wanted some Zaxby's so I thought on it and figured I needed to make something fresher for Delilah and me. The whole way to Zaxby's I was thinking about what I had at the house and what I might could make out of it. Here is what I came up with.

I made a real quick easy stir fry. Here's what I did:

I cheated and got two grilled chicken breasts from Zaxby's (cooking it yourself at home would be just as easy if you got it in advance). Then I cut up about 1/4 cup each of red pepper, green pepper, yellow pepper, orange pepper, and onion. I cut a medium size zucchni into small spears and diced about a tablespoon of fresh ginger. I threw all this in a pan with a little bit of sesame oil and some soy sauce. Seasoned it with some crushed mixed peppercorns then let it simmer for a while. Most of the sesame oil and soy sauce cooked into the food so I added an extra dash of soy sauce at this point to make sure the flavor is good. You can taste it first (I did) to see if it needs more. I didn't add much the first time so more was fine. While all this is going on cook some rice. I use the boil in a bag rice because it's a little easier and tastes just as good. Then serve it up!!
Delilah thought it was delicious and ate it up with no arguement. Even Greg said it looked really good and if he ate stuff like that he would try it!! It was really easy and didn't take very long to make and sure is a lot healthier than a frozen dinner or take out!

Then to finish off a good meal and to make sure we weren't too healthy we had some chocolate cream pie! Delilah had no problems finishing that off either.

How things are going

Greg's parents are in town for the week and we have been enjoying their visit a lot. I haven't gotten to see them as much as I would have liked because of having to work but Delilah sure is enjoying the time with her grandparents. We are spending some time with them tonight since I don't have to work and probably more over the weekend before they have to leave on Mon. morning.

I have changed jobs. I was working at Wal*Mart but my hours were cut down to 15 hours or less a week so I decided that a change was in order. I put in a lot of applications and got several calls back but weighing the pros and cons of each place I went with Ingles. It's very close to home so the commute is less than 5 minutes. I'll have a set schedule giving me every Fri and Sat off and plenty of hours! I just completed my first week there and it will take some getting used to but seems like it will be alright to carry me until Delilah gets in school next year. From there, we will see.

Also, for those of you that have been anxiousally awaiting them I have finally added pictures of the couch onto the post below. I'm sorry for the wait but there they are!

It's fall!

All the signs are around us. The leaves are changing and the mornings are getting cooler. And still we don't have the garage cleared out so we can park inside this winter. I have decided to take a small break from the internet so that I may put all my focus and energy into getting all the way unpacked and have the garage empty. ((If anyone wants to help you know my number *wink*))

I will hopefully get this done quickly and when I do I will post a picture of the wonderfully empty garage that results from it. All of you wish me luck as I will need every bit of it. Off I go to start on this dreadful task. Maybe if I start making some headway I'll get inspired by that progress and actually get it done!!

Thats all for now. Feel free to call me anytime and I will probably try to check my email at least once a day if you need to send me anything. Talk to you all soon.

New Couch

**** UPDATED WITH PICTURES ****

So, we've been needing a new couch for a while now. We really hadn't done too much looking around or anything but recently on a trip to the mall (the last place you would expect to shop for a couch) we noticed that they had a super mega clearance liquidation furniture store in the mall. Greg decided to humor me and go in and look around. After looking for a while and much talk and measuring we went home and looked at the measurements and talked more. The next day I called and did some price negotiations to get the price more to my liking. They, eager to sell, agreed to a lower price and that was that. So, about a week ago the couch was delivered. I've been SO "busy" enjoying the new couch I've not gotten much else done. This also explains the lack of a recent post.

Here it is... the new couch! It's very nice and comfy and as you can see Pigeon really likes it too!
As a reminder, this is what the old couch looked like. Complete with it's almost constant fixture of a sleeping Greg with kitty buddies on him.

I'm so glad we got a new couch. It's made it a lot easier for us to hang out with friends and family and made the living room look a lot nicer. And for all of those that might worry about the fate of our lovely old green couch... we will have it. It got moved upstairs into the office so we have a seating area up there too. Yay!!

Enjoying Nature

Yesterday we all took a trip to the NC Arboretum to enjoy being outside and get a little exercise. We picked the Nature Garden Trail and walked it's full length to the Baker Exhibit building where there was some interactive art stuff outside but not a lot going on inside. Then we walked up a ways through the garden area to get to the main building. On the way (almost right next to the main building) they have a really nice outdoor bonsai garden. It's gated so you can't get to it all the time but we were lucky, it had opened just before we got to it. They have several differnt sections that led up the hill from the garden towards the main building. The plants were beautiful. Delilah's favorite part was the mini waterfall they had. They did their best to make the area match the exhibited plants. It was very simple yet nice, very zen! We are now considering getting a membership so that we can go more often since we all seemed to enjoy it and it's nice to do something as a family that doesn't involve sitting around inside.

The Dreaded DMV

I had to go to the DMV today to renew my drivers license and change my name and address on it. I think I'm officially a Justice everywhere now except at my bank. They apparently want a signed letter from the president to prove I got married. Ok, maybe not that bad, but a lot harder than it should be! The wait at the DMV actually wasn't that bad today. I only had to wait about 45 minutes to be helped and it was all over in about 5 after that. Of course I got a new picture and in true DMV style it's nothing close to flattering. Oh well, it's only good for... 8 years. :(

I also had a late birthday celebration with my dad. We went out to lunch at Friday's with my sister Rachael and Delilah. The company was good but the food not so much. Rachael's food was over cooked, Dad's food was under cooked, and my food was a little dry from sitting under a heat lamp for too long. I never understood why food is always better the busier a restaraunt is. Shouldn't it be the other way around. Shouldn't they be cutting corners and rushing to get stuff out and be making MORE mistakes on busy days... but NO it's always the slow times that it sucks. The same goes for service. Shouldn't it be the less busy a server is the more attentive and helpful they should be. Drinks always being full and so on. But again, NO! It seems like they take advantage of the slow times to run off for cigarette breaks and snacking or just disappearing all together while you sit there parched, ready to lick the condensation off your cup for relief!

Nothing much else to report. We haven't been doing a whole not since we are all a little under the weather. Delilah is starting to get over the last of her allergies from the beach. Greg and I seem to be suffering from a stomach bug of sorts that has had us miserable for days. We are looking forward to feeling better but until we do I guess it will be fairly uneventful around here.

Slight Change of Plan

Welcome to Justice For All, a blog about the Justice family of Asheville, NC!

As you all know Delilah and I have been keeping a blog about her for sometime now. I figured it might get updated more if it were about the whole family. That gives a lot more chances for stuff to report. I will leave "Delilah Updates" up and occasionally add new pictures of her on there for everyone to see how she is growing but it will no longer be my main blog.

Some of what I report on here might be insignificant, like a new restaraunt we tried and liked or a movie we saw and didn't. Simple things. Some of it will be about how we are doing and things going on with us. I will try to update this at least once a week. I will promise no more than that.
